In December Urban Sketchers Skåne had its monthly sketch meeting in Helsingør or Elsinore in Denmark. From Kulturværftet, the newly built culture house of the city, we had a great view over Kronborg, the old castle where Shakespeare let his young, hot-headed protagonist Hamlet meet his tragic destiny.
Kulturværftet is built in and around an old shipyard, with the old building being surrounded by a glass construction. Sometimes you are inside the building, sometimes outside … without actually leaving the house. Old stuff like steel beams and rusty hoists are mixed with modern and chic interior decoration.
The view from Kulturværftet over the small harbour is magnificent, and we will be back when weather gets more benevolent.
